Ballet classes focus on the study of classical ballet technique through barre work, centre allegro and adage and moving across the floor.

Ballet is the basis of most dance styles and improves strength, posture, balance and flexibility. Ballet is a great addition to any other class as it will help any dancer find grace, fluidity, and power in their dancing.

Choreography for our year end recital utilizes the technique learned in class to create a breathtaking display of movement and the student's love and enjoyment of ballet.


Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. Pointe technique resulted from a desire for female dancers to appear weightless. Dancers must be technically strong, have taken at least one year of ballet, are at least 11 years old and have special permission from the artistic director.


Jazz is a fast paced, high energy class which incorporates technique, strength, flexibility and stylized choreography. As dancers progress, classes also focus on a variety of leaps, turns and combinations.


Using their feet as instruments, students work on fundamentals for clarity and speed and progress to more advanced steps and exciting intricate combinations.


This class is a fusion of Modern and Contemporary dance techniques. Students learn a variety of modern techniques influenced by Horton, Limon & Cunningham, fused with the "new" influences of contemporary styles.

Material covered within this class incorporates elements from many dance styles, such as classical ballet, jazz & African dance. This style utilizes both the strong and controlled leg work of ballet and modern dance’s stress on the torso. As well, it employs contact-release, floor work, fall & recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance, along with unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed and direction.

Musical Theatre

Students in this class will learn choreography which includes singing, dancing and acting. Students will love performing to a great variety of musical pieces. Choreography for the class is more than a dance, it is a production. This class is offered in two levels, incorporating students of all ages and abilities.


Acro is a style of dance that combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character & its unique choreography which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics.

Acro incorporates elements of dance technique, tumbling, strengthening, control, balance and basic contortion. Classes will focus increasing flexibility, balance, strength and control, and students will learn to execute tricks such as walkovers, cartwheels, round offs, ariel tricks, and balances.

This style can be commonly confused with gymnastics with their similarities in technique but each style varies considerably. Erin utilize professional spotting techniques to ensure the safety of all students.

Entrance to this class is by invite only as students need to already be at a certain level of flexibility and strength. If your child does not yet meet this criteria, consider enrolling them in the Dance Conditioning class, and practice, practice, practice at home!


Hip hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music. Students are encouraged to develop their own sense of style and rhythm through the physical expression of the varied choreography, freestyle, and training techniques they will study throughout the year in these exhilarating classes.


Lyrical incorporates the technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, expressiveness and airier aspects of jazz and contemporary. This style is based on choreography and self interpretation of the music.

Routines are centred around feeling and emotion and though technique is vital, the dance will usually go in the direction of one’s spirit.
