Cheryl Matson is originally from Toronto, where she has had over 10 years of teaching experience for recreational, exam, and competitive students. She has also owned her own studio for a short time in Saskatchewan. She has completed all student exams in the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association (C.D.T.A.) for ballet, jazz, and tap while a pupil at Sandra Purdy’s School for Dance in Kettleby Ontario, as well as completing the Elementary and Advanced 1 ballet exams with the Imperial Society of Teacher’s of Dance (i.s.t.d.). Afterwards, Cheryl went on to further her dance education obtaining George Brown College’s Performance Dance Studies 2 Year Diploma.

 

Cheryl is a full member of Performing Arts Educators of Canada (P.A.E.C) for Urban and is one of the creators for its Urban syllabus – the first of its kind in any dance association in Canada. She is also an associate member of P.A.E.C. for both Tap and Jazz. She also had the privilege of performing for 5 years with the all-female tap dance company “What’s On? Tap!” based in Mississauga, Ontario.

 

Miss Matson teaches Tap, Jazz, Urban, Munchkin-Movement, Stretch & Strengthen, as well as some of the ballet classes at movement.workshop. Cheryl is thrilled to share her knowledge & passion for dance with the Bathurst community, and movement.workshop is thrilled to have her as a teacher!
